Nikki Gonnissen, together with Thomas Widdershoven, is co-founder and director of Thonik (established in 1993). Thonik is the Amsterdam based collective of designers with a speciality in visual communication, graphic identity, interaction- and motion design. The studio has its roots firmly planted in society, willing to actively engage in the dialogue of what is right and what is fair – "We seek to change the world. One design at a time."

The studio works in collaboration with creatives and clients in the cultural, non-profit, government and business field. Recent clients are: Hyundai Department Stores, Seoul; Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Rotterdam; Nanjing Youth Festival, Nanjing; Shenzhen Bi-city Biennale; Centraal Museum Utrecht; Power Station of Art, Shanghai; Spiral Art Centre, Tokyo; Socialist Party of the Netherlands; Municipality of Amsterdam; Public Library of Amsterdam (ObA); Dutch broadcasting network VPRO; Holland Festival, Amsterdam and many more. Thonik has had solo exhibitions at the Shanghai Art Museum, The Venice Architecture Biennial, Spiral Art Center Tokyo, Moti Breda, Galerie Anatome and Institut Néerlandais Paris.
